Shaping materials into useful objects. Design and fabrication using modern methods. A small shop on Deer Isle built around a CNC router. Able to custom design and machine wood, aluminum, plastic and foam.
Here is a miter saw bench top I built while trying out some new bits for the CNC. Above picture shows a 4x8 sheet of oak plywood on the table after being milled by the router. 5 drawer openings cut, all dividers cut, miters cut, dados cut - all in one program. Below picture shows assembly of parts after some polyurethane and a green epoxy inlay of The Deer Isle Bridge designed by my daughter.
This was a small 3D project just for proof of concept on a hull shaped form. Layers of plywood glued into and block and milled down with 2 tooling passes. Above shows result of the initial roughing pass. Below shows the constrast to a finishing pass.
Recently, we finished up a lobster boat. The welder on the project gave me a piece of 6061 so i could try my aluminum bits and the coolant mister. V-carved an image of a welder, patterned welding arc, decked down 15 thou, V-carve lettering, cut and chamfered edge.
